This is part 2 of the Lovely Llama project. In this glass fusing project, I’ve got two llamas on a simple platter. In this second part I complete the assembly, full fuse it, coldwork and then fire polish before slumping it in a mould.

If you’re familiar with the glass fusing strip construction technique, I think you’ll still enjoy this project. It is a little demanding, both on technique and patience, but it’s well worth the effort.

Lovely Llama Platter (Part 1) Fused Glass Project

In this project, we’re going to use the strip construction method to create a pattern that includes 2 Llamas, for a lovely 😁 platter. This is part 1 of the tutorial, simply because it ended up being a long video.

If you’re familiar with the glass fusing strip construction technique, I think you’ll still enjoy this project. It is a little demanding, both on technique and patience, but it’s well worth the effort.

In this project I’ll be talking about a number of things, including the design, cutting glass, assembly of the piece, fusing, and slumping into a glass mould.

Using Strip Construction to Make Fused Glass Cabochons

Strip construction is a well-known technique in making fused glass items. In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to make fused glass cabochons using strip construction.

Glass fusing with the strip construction method involves cutting strips of different coloured glass and then assembling them in some sort of pattern, on edge, before full fusing. That’s exactly what we’ll be doing in this glass fusing project

The video tutorial will talk about design, materials, and equipment needs. It will also cover any cutting and assembly required, and all kiln firing through to the final full fuse firing.

Using a Fusible Decal to Make a Fused Glass Platter

In this video tutorial, I demonstrate making a custom fusible decal and using it to decorate a fused glass platter. The tutorial also shows how to make the platter and slump it into the required shape.

The video tutorial includes techniques for cutting the glass strips, fusing it all together, coldworking with a flat lap, and then finally slumping it in the kiln to the final shape.

Make a Fused Glass Platter Using the Strip Construction Method

In this video tutorial, I’ll be showing you how I made a small fused glass platter using the strip construction method. The platter also has a focal piece made from Bullseye streaky glass. The method I’m using involves cutting many 6 mm wide strips of 3mm art glass and then assembling them into the desired pattern

The video tutorial includes techniques for cutting the glass strips, fusing it all together, coldworking with a flat lap, and then finally slumping it in the kiln to the final shape.
